Ok, so yeah, I used to handle Daemon Curtis and I dont handle right now - I'm trying to figure out who I want to toss out there as a free agent. But, I figured I'd post here now anyway.

As of late of been cursing out every fat person I see... problem being, it's usually when I'm walking by mirrors. I've really fallen off since highschool, I went from a good build at 210lbs 5'10", to getting shorter and weighing a disgusting 260. I'm also going bald. I think it's BS. But, if I have to go bald, I shouldnt have to be fat too.

I noticed that someone mentioned P90 X in a thread I was reading below here, and I'm mostly just wondering if anyone actually went ahead and followed the program and if they put any merit in it. It costs about as much as three months at the gym (and it's a three month program), but I'd like to know if it works and is worth the money. I could put forth the effort and make my own program, but I'd probably be less likely to follow it because A) I'm lazy and B) It didnt cost me shit and C) It probably wouldnt be as well rounded as a professional

Anyway, any suggestions, or even a "Hey, fuck you, you dont even handle here, FATTY" will do.

-Yeah, even at 210 I was a little Fat
-Hence the awesome highschool nickname

I can't speak for the program, but I'll just say, that if you lack motivation to get to the gym and work out buying some over priced DVDs likely won't help motivate you any. You'd likely be better off to hire a trainer at your local gym paying for someone's time that will work with you and push you through your workouts will likely go much farther than a set of DVDs will.

i bought it, and the results have been nothing short of staggering.

I know several others who bought it and did the workout routine, but ignored the diet. The had some good results, but they were not quite as much as had been desired.

I, on the other hand, got it with no intent on following the diet, but i decided i would try it because my eating habits are horrible. In a month, i had lost twelve pounds, and i'm now at a point where instead of fighting at 170 pounds, i can make the weight cut to 145. (MMA, btw). And the results from the workouts are amazing. It is definitely an extreme workout. I would recommend it. BUT, there has to be the commitment to follow both the workout and the diet plan.

Dropped four pounds at the end of the third week.

Not so much looking to drop weight...but I'm up to 15 reps of 225 on the bench.

NFL-quality.

How advanced would you have to be to actually do the P90X workouts?

I've been going to the gym since mid-August and have lost roughly 30 lbs since then, but I've still got 40 to go until I'm at my ideal bodyweight, and I still can't do things like unassisted chinups and dips.

I'm continuing to lose weight but my lifting progress, especially in my arms, has stalled out, and I'm wondering whether P90X would be the thing to get me over the hill.

(Right now I weigh 237 lbs at a height of 5'11" - my ideal weight is 190 lbs)

Oh Jesus fucking Christ. This P90X shit is for girls. Seriously. I'd like to see some pics of all you guys that are supposedly doing so well on it. Before and after pics, I mean. I keep hearing people online talk about this thing, but I never see the results in picture form. Just words. Blah, blah, blah.

Go to the gym and lift some fucking iron already.

It's not like there would be any pics anyway. Most people that say P90x works are full of shit.

ULTIMATE DIET TIP:

KEEP calories burned > calories consumed.

Dave_B
12-15-2009, 01:19 PM
Ryan that tip is bogus, calories burned versus calories consumed is only if you want to lose weight, be it good or bad weight. It's all in what you eat and when, not so much how much consume versus how much you burn. 200 calories of protein is far better for you than say 200 calories of white bread...

To the defense of the guys on P90-x, I have seen a few live cases of it working. Both the guy I've witnessed went from a very poor diet (fast food 3 to 4 times a day) with very little activity levels. They both followed the plan to a t, and had decent results. But I am guessing they would have saw the same results had they cut out the fast food, and got active in the first place, they both needed the system to get them going though cause I don't think either one would have bothered with out it.

Doozer
12-16-2009, 10:00 AM
Obviously they would have seen similar results doing just what you said (cutting bad foods, working out, blah blah blah)... The whole point of these various programs is to do just that... give people a PROGRAM. The majority of us aren't motivated enough intrinsically to get out of poor eating habits and lack of exercise on our own.

A program that works is one that will win people over, get their buy in, and get them into a habit of living a healthier lifestyle. People can shit all over these, but they are just being ignorant to the fact that most individuals need a kick in the ass to get into shape once in an unhealthy lifestyle. It's not an easy change to make.

Don't fucking act like P90x is some altruistic "let's get toghether and change the world for the better and motivate people to live a healthier life!@1!" because that is what's ignorant -- or at least naive. fucking $60 to tell you to not eat shitty foods and workout more?

Thats not charity -- it's a fucking scam, not "Helping people overcome" their weak willpower, but exploiting it.

Holy shit, dude. You need medication. I never said it was altruistic and trying to change the world. I said it is a program to help people do what they have trouble doing themselves. Which it is... But it's just a program like all the others out there that charges people money to do just what I said, GIVE THEM A PROGRAM BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE HAVING ISSUES DOING IT ON THEIR OWN. My point was it is just another program. However, it shouldn't be bagged on for being a program. They have their place. Just like they have their price. And their aim is not to help people overcome weak willpower, but to help them get in shape... are they supposed to provide psychological support, too? I don't remember saying shit about that. Try not being such an ignorant doucher, to use your own awesome 3rd grader favorite, and read. I never even hinted at it being 'charity' or anything like that. I never said it didn't have a price. I used the word 'help' instead of 'exploit' and if you really got hung up on that, you totally missed the point.

Hahaha, I think that only gives the word more power... a double meaning type of thing. You might not have meant to, but you just sold me on sheople.

Yeah, I'm going to back up Justin when he said "cut that shit out, now".

Just because someone says something you find offensive doesn't mean you have to respond.

Decided to buy and try this out, starting Feb Week 1.

My biggest life obstacles are:

1) Motivated, but often embarassed to work out because of how out of shape I am.
2) My friends keep in shape by playing a sport (hockey) that I have no skill with and they play turned up to 11 so I end up doing nothing but legally mugging someone who tries to come over my blue line.
3) My complete and total addiction to all things soda. Seriously, it's pretty bad.
4) Every other week, I'm on-call, which means I have to have a cell phone on me at all times. My gym got bitchty with me one too many times for it ("No cell phones means no cell phones. You too important to follow the rules?") and I've decided to cancel their asses. Now, if I get a call from work, I can stop my workout (since I'm at home) and take care of my business. It'll mean lost results, but it'll mean a kept job, which is > workout out.

I plan on rectifying the above as follows:

1) Follow plan to exact "T", with the only exception being that I don't have anything to do chinups on. Got the dumbbells, going to buy some of that Myoplex shit for post-workout (cheaper than the labeled P-90X stuff IIRC), and see if I get any results.
2) Keep a picture and stat diary online. I'll do updates here here but pics will be hyperlinked so those that don't want to see my gross fat ass can not click.
3) Cut soda out of my diet completely. Even the diet shit.
4) While in Phase 3, find some basketball courts where I won't get knifed. People have gotting killed in my neighborhood over basketball games, it's a fact of life here. As the program finishes off, transition to a healthier lifestyle by doing some activity that I actually like and are more skilled in. Basketball, softball, running distance, shit like that.

For those that have done this successfully, and it sounds like there's a few, am I missing anything? Any suggestions?

Shearer

Move to somewhere else. Getting knifed over basketball? Christ. Fuck that.

If you got a job that pays 75k+ with full benefits, I'm listening. That's about what it would take for me to even bring up the subject of moving in my household.
