This is assuming you don't watch Blu-Ray DVD's (i am jealous of you) and still buy the regular DVD's. Completely random topic, I know.
Me, I love Widescreen DVD's because they tend to show the entire picture in its entirety and not just the zoomed in parts. Depends on the formatting too, though.

I watch widescreen cause full screen looks stupid on HD TV's.

I like the widescreen format personally but don't mind if a dvd doesn't have it. Can't you just select what format you want? On my tv I can

Depends on if it is Anamorphic or Non-Anamorphic. Usually, if it is Anamorphic, it doesn't tweak properly. One of the two.

What is anamorphic and non anamorphic? I've got a HDTV and just choose the format for the dvd. I can zoom it in and it look stupid or I can have it widescreen and see the whole thing. Don't really use that 4:3HD setting cuz the woman doesn't like the tiny box
