So I haven't actually watched wrestling in many many years, but a friend of mine at school thought it would be awesome to order Wrestlemania and throw a party. And he was right. It was awesome.

Undertaker/Michaels owned.

Don't know who that Kofi Kingston guy was, but he was absolutely wicked during the Money in the Bank match. I was dissapointed with the outcome of that match, but the midget frog splash dramatically improved my life.

Kid Rock did not rock.

Sunny was in the 25 Diva battle royal and appeared on camera for... zero seconds.

I love that Stone Cold can still just come out and drink beer for fifteen minutes and be completely entertaining.

Rey Mysterio Ledger ftw.

Ricky Steamboat is THE MAN.

Thoughts?

Meh..

It was a pretty mediocre PPV I think. Undertaker/HBK was hands down the best match of the night. Followed by MITB and then Matt vs Jeff. The two HW Championship matches were just glorified RAW matches.

I was pretty disappointed in the HHH Vs Orton match as it was friggin boring for the most part. Unless they are planning on continuing things it was the most anti-climatic end to a feud that I can remember. A match with the buildup of hate between the two men should culminate in some sort of blood shed. I suppose they could explain away the lack of blood with HHH not being able to do anything illegal and get DQed because he would lose the belt, but that's a lame ass excuse IMHO.

Steamboat looked good in the limited role that he played during the Legends match, and it helped that Jericho took the arm drags and chops like the pro he is.

Everything else was blah.

Kingston WAS sick.
Punk, im a big fan of, but that win was bullshit. He didn't have spots anywhere close to Kingston, or even Benjamin's flip.
Steamboat is still damn good for his age.
Taker/Michaels was awesome.

Im just now getting around to mania, online. I stopped off at a friends last night (I was working. On a pizza delivery) and got caught up for an hour and a half watching Mysterio/JBL and Taker/Michaels.

Good pay-per-view. Money in the Bank was good, Matt vs. Jeff was good, Taker vs. Michaels was good. The two main-event matches were indeed exaggeratedly long RAW Main Events. HHH and Orton was just terrible on every level.

I could care less about that entire show aside from HBK vs Taker. That match was possibly the best WWE/F match I have seen ever... And if it's not the best ever, it's certainly right up there with HBK/Angle, Benoit/Angle, HBK/Hart (Ironman), HBK/Razor (Ladder), Bret/Owen (WM10), Savage/Steamboat (WM3), Hogan/Warrior (WM6, fuck you, that was a well done match for it's time).

I won't even bother downloading it, tbh.

Nothing can save them right now. Just turn up the Jericho and turn down the suck?

I thought Steamboat did alarmingly well. I was literally shocked with how well he was moving, he could easily still wrestle today and be convincing. I'll take him over Flair or Lawler any day.

The Hardy/Hardy match was a good spotfest, and MITB was also a good spotfest, albeit CM Punk winning was absolute horseshit. MITB had a good deal of blown spots as well, which is never sexy, but that shit isn't easy.

The Diva battle royal was probably the worst Wrestlemania match I've ever seen on so many levels. Them pretending like they didn't notice Santino in the ring, pretending like he was actually a girl, the fact that nobody ever touched him.. Hell, the participants didn't even get introduced, or exited. It was just very poorly put together.

HBK/Undertaker was good, but the only thing taking that match down was the fact that everybody knew Undertaker was gonna win. The build was completely pro-HBK, so Undertaker had to win, and that had me not believing any HBK nearfalls.

Orton HHH was pretty weak, but not horrendous, just weak in comparison to most everything else. The three way was also not the greatest, with Cena's show of strength the only thing memorable about it.

Overall, it was alright. There really were no memorable moments that I think people will talk about years from now, no new stars were made, nobody was really elevated, but the match quality was good.

Heh. In that case, the fact that I didn't witness any of the build completely worked to my advantage. Sweet.

Forgot about that Cena moment... that was pretty wild. But yea, it was kind of a "blah" match otherwise.

I was there live, and right off the bat.. no it wasn't the "best" Wrestlemania, but it was far from the worst. Undertaker and Shawn Michaels was absolutly insane. The fact we all knew Undertaker was going to win and we still freaked out at every near fall and every false finish was amazing. The fact those two guys are in the twilight of their careers and put on a match of that caliber is absolutly incredible. The five guys involved in the two title matches should feel like assholes having to follow that shit. Cena, Edge and Show was a good match with a piss poor finish, Edge should have retained, and I'm not a total Cena hater. Orton and Triple H was a glorified Raw main event.. like was said above, it was a decent match, but Mania main event? Really?

The Money in the Bank was a trip to watch live, ladder matches just don't translate on television.. that shit is scary high. As usual Shelton was the superstar of that match, Kofi to. Those two dudes bumped like someone had a gun to their heads, that spot where Kofi ran up that unopened latter Mark Henry had in his hands got everyone on their feet, so did that insane ladder dive Shelton pulled off on the outside. Jeff and Matt would have been a show stealer if it weren't for the fact it had to compete with the MitB match. The match ender where Matt had Jeff's head through the opened folding chair and hit the Twist of Fate.. just awesome. Also cool to see Matt sporting some actual wrestling gear and dropping the asshole "hey remember the 90's" baggy jeans and t-shirt bullshit Jeff is still wearing.

What a waste bringing in girls like Molly Holly, Tammy Sytch and the rest then not announce them for that waste of time battle royal. On top of that, why not make that shitball match the dark match and put the tag title unification on the PPV? The Colon's, Miz and Morrison put on a really great match, it's bullshit they put them on before the show went live.

Again though, Undertaker and HBK put on a classic. That match alone was worth the ticket price.
