I'd also be interested to know. I played a few games of Civilization Revolution recently and am hooked, even if it's a bit cartoonish.

Except, you know, most torrents for the Civ series, not to mention most RTS series, are plagued by "no CD errors". I think what Joe and I were after was a reliable download that someone might be aware of rather than a glib remark or a link with pithy instructions.

Thanks anyway.

Well granted I haven't really tried cracking games much, but I've taught myself how to download software programs (photoshop etc... strictly for schoolwork you understand, not for profit). I've always had the best luck with using the program Daemon Tools Lite, and downloading a torrent that includes a .ISO file.

I can't put it in technicalese, but Daemon Tools tricks your computer into thinking it has a CD in the drive when it doesn't, and the ISO is a file that Daemon Tools treats like a CD.

EDIT

Daemon Tools isn't the downloading application, it's something you run the already downloaded stuff with. For downloading I strongly recommend Vuze (formerly Azureus).

I wouldn't have understood the technicalese :p Thanks so much for the tip, Jeff! I'll invest in this Daemon Tools Lite- just have to resist the temptation to become a chronic pirate with it lol

too late. I bought it and downloaded it online from best Buy.

Good, I'm glad you paid for things. But switch to the Total War Series, I'm very satisfied with my attempts colonizing India and fighting the French on the American frontier.

Except that those are solvable. It has nothing to do with the torrents, and requires additional instructions. However, those problems had not been stated in the thread yet.

I'm minorly irritated over the Pirate Bay being hit with a stupid lawsuit when finding a zillion torrents for anything is as easy as typing "Filetype: torrent" into google with a name.

But hey, if you need to rage out at a simple joke, then hey, whatev. Attack womb to the ready!

On the subject of how to retrieve said ISO files... I use uTorrent myself. ;)
